This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you contact me through my website www.barmadebags.com. It is written with an awareness of, and compliance with, the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Wix (who host my website) or any third party services you access through links provided from my website such as Etsy, Folksy or Facebook. Please refer to the Privacy Policies of these organisations to learn more about their privacy practices.

Information I Collect

The main information that I collect is that which you provide me with in order to discuss and plan your request for a bespoke bag.  This will include your name and email address, and the details of the item you’re wanting me to make for you.  You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information, relating to a custom order for a bag.  If you place an order, which I will process via Etsy, you will also need to supply those organisations with information – your name, email address, postal address and payment details – and you authorise them to provide me with this information.

In addition, other information which is collected on the website is the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, in order that software tools can measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page.

 

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It

I need your information in order to communicate with you about your request, fulfil your order, provide customer support and, if necessary, settle a dispute. I also use it to create aggregated statistical data which I may use to provide and improve my services, and also to comply with any applicable laws and regulations.

 

How I Store, Share and Disclose your Information

When you contact me by email, your email address is stored in the double-password-protected inbox of my Hotmail.com email account (barmadebags@hotmail.com) for as long as we are in communication about your enquiry.

My BarMadeBags website is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides the online platform that allows me to show my products to you and for you to contact me.  Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall. 

When you order a bag from me, your personal information is shared with Etsy as necessary to provide you with the means to carry through the transaction and for me to comply with my obligations under the their Seller Policies and Terms of Use.

 

Data Retention

Once your order is complete, I no longer retain your personal information. However, I may need to access this information through Etsy or my password protected Hotmail account if it is required in order to resolve disputes or for other legal and regulatory obligations such as tax issues.  Data will be kept for these purposes for 6 years.

Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

• Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.

• Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Apart from exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.

• Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after you have given your express consent to receive them.  In such a cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.

• Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

 

Privacy Policy Updates

I reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
